February 2019
Dear NASASPS Members,
In preparation for our Annual Meeting held in conjunction with the 2019 Conference on April 16, 2019, the Nominating Committee will be meeting to draft the slate of nominees for the 2019 Board of Directors Election. This year’s Nominating Committee members are Lane Goodwin, Crystal Puderbaugh and Leroy Wade.
There will be three Board of Directors positions open for nominations this year and all positions will serve a three-year term (with eligibility for a second three-year term). Currently, Julie Woodruff, Sylvia Rosa-Casanova and Cam Maeyaert occupy these positions. Julie Woodruff is term-limited and Sylvia Rosa-Casanova has chosen not to run for the Board again this year.
Board Member Responsibilities
Board members are expected to participate in one board meeting per month (held via conference call, typically 1 to 1 ½ hours), one board retreat each year (two to three days including travel time; travel is reimbursed by NASASPS), and various meetings during the annual conference and fall workshop (travel paid by agency). Board members will be asked to serve as an officer of the Board or chair for one of our committees and can expect to spend 3-5 hours per month on NASASPS duties during busier months or seasons.
Eligibility
Please note that to be eligible for Board service, a candidate must be a regular member of the association. Per the association’s bylaws, all nominees must express in writing to the Board of Directors their willingness to serve, so please submit the form by March 25th to be considered. The nominating committee will meet after March 25th to consider all of the potential nominees.
Submit a Nomination
If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors or would like to submit another name for consideration, please fill out a short Board interest form at https://s.zoomerang.com/r/2019_BOD_Nominations. I encourage you to consider potential candidates and contact the committee with your suggestions.
Notification of Appointment
The slate of nominees will be presented to the membership during our Annual Business Meeting on April 15, 2019 at the 2019 Conference. During our Annual Meeting on April 16th, we will accept additional nominations from the floor and then Regular Members in good standing will vote on the slate of candidates.
If you have any questions about the nomination and election process, do not hesitate to contact myself or any of the members of the Nominating Committee. I look forward to seeing you at the 2019 NASASPS Conference in Jacksonville later this year!
Best Regards,
Lane Goodwin
NASASPS President
