President’s Letter March 2021

Hello NASASPS Members,

My term of serving on the NASASPS Board of Directors is winding down after serving for six years, and this is my final President’s message for this newsletter.

In my first newsletter message nearly two years ago, I discussed building relationships and encouraging the sharing of best practices.  That same theme has applied over the past two years and applies here in my final message.  NASASPS is prioritizing the expansion of membership value.  We continue to provide webinar offerings and calls with the U.S. Department of Education.  This past year, our Distance Education Best Practices Committee and the School Closures Committee have been working to develop resources.  These resources will be shared at an upcoming conference.  As additional resources are developed, they will be shared on the NASASPS website via a toolkit.

Speaking of conferences, traditionally, the upcoming April conference is the annual conference that brings together all members of the association.  Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions, we are unable to host an in-person meeting.  We are excited to announce that the conference event in April will be a virtual, regulator-focused meeting event.  We plan to host a full-member conference in the fall.  You can register for the April event on our website.

During the April conference, we will also hold the annual business meeting.  This meeting will provide an update and review of the boards focused priorities.  We will also consider nominees for one Board position. If you are interested in serving on the board, please reach out to us.

As I close, I thank the NASASPS organization, staff, and members for the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors.  This experience has provided immeasurable value, and I am grateful for the relationships, both professionally and personally. While I am rolling off the board, thankfully, I will continue to be a member of the NASASPS organization in my role as a state regulator.  I look forward to participating in future NASASPS events.

If you have any questions regarding NASASPS, membership, or the conference, please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of the members of the board or staff.

Take Care,

Crystal Puderbaugh
