President’s Letter

NASASPS Quarterly, Volume 6
February/March 2018

Greetings NASASPS Members,

Welcome to spring! It feels like spring in SC, at least, with 80-degree temperatures, plants blooming, and pollen in the air as I write this introduction. The approach of spring always signals to me that the NASASPS Annual Conference is almost here! The conference planning committee has worked hard to design a good, relevant agenda, and I am excited about meaningful sessions that will be of interest to all areas of membership. If you haven’t yet registered, you will find information here in the newsletter.

As a result of a board vacancy in late fall, the NASASPS board called for nominations for a new board member. We are pleased to announce that Cathie (Cam) Maeyaert from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has joined the board to fulfill JK Magnani’s term. Welcome, Cam!

The NASASPS board held its planning retreat just before the holidays, which resulted in a three-year strategic plan aimed at membership expansion, retention, and engagement; enhancing partnerships and engagement with other agencies; strengthening organizational operations; and promoting the value of NASASPS. We look forward to sharing the strategic plan at the Annual Meeting in April.

In other board-related news, the nominating committee has been formed for the purpose of reviewing and recommending a slate of potential Board Members to the membership during the NASASPS Annual Meeting, which will be held during the Annual Conference. While no current board members’ terms will end this year, nominations may be made to the committee both prior to the meeting and from the floor during the meeting. You’ll find more information about the Annual Meeting and nominating committee later in the newsletter.

Last but not least, NASASPS board members and staff have created a FAQs survey for regular members to complete. Regular members will receive a personalized link to enter their responses and will have the ability to update their information as needed. The results of the FAQs will be available to all members. We hope that this information will be helpful to regular members searching for comparative information about other states, as well as to other members who will be able to find a great deal of information in one place.

I look forward to seeing everyone in April!

Sincerely,
Lane Goodwin
NASASPS President
