President’s Letter November 2019

NASASPS Quarterly, Volume 13
November 2019

Hello NASASPS Members,

Happy Holidays! I love this time of year and all the joy and excitement that the holidays bring.  I hope everyone can wrap up the busyness of year-end, slow down, and enjoy the holiday season.

The NASASPS Board is focusing on planning for 2020, including the spring conference in New Orleans!  The conference committee is reviewing proposals and preparing the conference agenda.  I’ve had a sneak peek at the session proposals, and I’m confident the 2020 conference will include a variety of timely topics and great opportunities for networking.  I look forward to seeing the finalized agenda.  Please be sure to visit the NASASPS website for conference information!

It was great to see many of you at the 2019 Fall Workshop for Regulators in Minneapolis.  We had representation from 24 states with several first-time attendees.   The workshop provided an excellent opportunity to discuss current issues and exchange ideas.   I appreciate everyone sharing their thoughts, experiences, and best practices.

Recently, several NASASPS members represented state regulators by attending workshops and conferences.  These events include the NGA Higher Education Quality Assurance Meeting and the Hir(ED) Summit.  We want to ensure that state regulators and NASASPS continue to be a voice in higher education.  The Board recently developed a PowerPoint slide deck and standard presentation materials for member use to help share information about NASASPS at other conferences and meetings.  We encourage you to reach out for these materials if you are attending or presenting at a conference.  Also, feel free to forward any relevant conference dates, and we will try to send a representative from the membership.

The next state regulator quarterly call with the U.S. Department of Education is scheduled for December 12th at 2:00 p.m. EST.  Register at
